ISI-linked Module Planned Attacks On Delhi Temple, Dhaba, Military Camp: Probe
Delhi Police Special Cell uncovers cross-border conspiracy after arresting nine suspected operatives linked to the Shahzad Bhatti module.
NEW DELHI, May 8: Security agencies have uncovered an alleged cross-border terror conspiracy involving planned attacks on key locations in Delhi and Haryana, including a historic temple, a crowded highway dhaba and a military installation, sources said on Friday.
The alleged plot came to light during the interrogation of nine suspected operatives linked to the Shahzad Bhatti module, who were recently arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell under its ongoing ‘Gang Bust Operation 2.0’. The arrests were made across several states following coordinated intelligence inputs.
According to investigators, one of the accused had reportedly conducted surveillance at a prominent historic temple in the national capital and transmitted photographs and other details to handlers based in Pakistan using social media applications.
Sources said the attackers were allegedly instructed to open fire at police and paramilitary personnel deployed around the religious site with the objective of triggering panic and disturbing public order.
Investigators further revealed that the module was also assigned the task of carrying out a grenade attack at a busy dhaba located along the Delhi-Sonipat highway. The eatery, known for attracting heavy footfall throughout the day, was allegedly chosen to maximise casualties and create fear among the public.
During the probe, agencies also discovered that a military camp in Haryana’s Hisar district had been surveyed by the suspects. Videos and details of the area were allegedly shared with handlers operating from across the border.
Sources added that certain police stations in Uttar Pradesh were also identified among the potential targets under the broader conspiracy.
Security agencies are continuing their investigation to trace the network’s funding channels, communication methods and possible local support system. Officials are also examining the extent of foreign involvement and whether additional operatives are still active in different parts of the country.
The Delhi Police Special Cell has intensified surveillance and coordination with other central and state agencies as the investigation progresses.
