NEW DELHI, Sep 14: Abhishek Sharma produced a breathtaking batting display as India defeated Afghanistan by seven wickets in the opening T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Afghanistan posted 156 for nine after being put into bat, but India made light work of the chase as Abhishek launched an attacking assault from the outset.
The left-handed opener smashed 82 runs from just 32 deliveries, striking seven fours and seven sixes. He brought up his half century in only 22 balls and ensured India remained firmly in control of the chase.
Ishan Kishan provided valuable support with a composed 42 from 33 balls. Their contributions helped India reach the target in just 13.4 overs.
Afghanistan’s bowlers struggled to contain India’s aggressive approach, while the visitors were unable to create sustained pressure after the early dismissal of Sanju Samson.
