Nexperia and Tata Electronics Announce Semiconductor Partnership

Mumbai, Sep 18 : Dutch semiconductor maker Nexperia has entered into a strategic partnership with Tata Electronics to manufacture and package chips in India, marking a significant expansion of semiconductor related activity in the country.

Under the agreement announced on September 17, Nexperia and Tata Electronics will manufacture Nexperia’s power-control chips at Tata’s semiconductor facility being developed in Dholera, Gujarat. The companies will also work together on testing and assembling chips at Tata’s packaging facility in Jagiroad, Assam.

The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement. They said the partnership will also include cooperation on developing future semiconductor technologies.

Nexperia supplies semiconductor components used in a range of industries, including automobiles and consumer electronics. The new arrangement comes as companies and governments seek to strengthen semiconductor supply chains and expand manufacturing capacity outside traditional production hubs.

Tata Electronics has been investing heavily in building an integrated semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in India. Its Dholera facility, valued at about $11 billion, is expected to play a central role in the country’s efforts to expand domestic chip production.

The partnership also follows a period of tension between Nexperia and its Chinese parent, Wingtech. The Dutch government intervened in 2025 over concerns surrounding the company’s operations, while China subsequently restricted exports of certain Nexperia chips packaged there. Those disruptions contributed to supply concerns among automakers.

Nexperia’s latest agreement with Tata Electronics further strengthens its manufacturing links with India as the global semiconductor industry continues to reorganize production and supply networks.
