ACB traps & arrests Owais Ahmad, President, Municipal Committee, Pahalgam for demanding & accepting Rs. 80,000/- as bribe

21-10-2021 Anti-Corruption Bureau received a complaint alleging therein that President, Municipal Committee, Pahalgam is demanding illegal gratification for release of payment.
In the complaint, the complainant alleged that Owais Ahmad, President, Municipal Committee, Pahalgam is demanding Rs. 80,000/- as a bribe for the release of payments due to him for the supply of Garbage Vehicles (Two Hopper Tipper Dumpers).

On receipt of the complaint Case, FIR No. 31/2021 U/S 7 PC Act 1988 was registered in this Bureau, and the investigation was taken up.

During the course of the investigation, a trap team was constituted. The trap team laid a successful trap and caught red-handed Owais Ahmad, President, Municipal Committee, Pahalgam while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs. 80,000/- from the complainant. He was arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team.
Further investigation into the case is on.
