BJP Leader Accuses Farooq Abdullah of Being a Pawn of Pakistan
06-06-2023 : Tarun Chugh, the national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), criticized National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday, accusing him of being a pawn of Pakistan. Chugh responded to Abdullah’s comment regarding the absence of G20 meetings in Jammu, questioning why Abdullah was displeased with the organization of an international event in Srinagar after a long time. Chugh urged Abdullah, a former chief minister, not to hinder the progress of Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdullah had expressed disappointment on Monday, criticizing the government for scheduling G20 meetings in Ladakh and Kashmir but not in Jammu. He also reprimanded BJP leaders for not raising this issue. Chugh, in response, questioned Abdullah’s concerns, asking why he opposed an international event in Srinagar and why he seemed to harbor animosity towards the beliefs, development, and progress in Jammu and Kashmir. Chugh also questioned Abdullah’s envy of the people’s faith in the Prime Minister. Chugh, representing the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir, directly addressed Abdullah with these inquiries.
Chugh asserted that Farooq Abdullah remains under the influence of Pakistan, while affirming that Jammu and Kashmir will continue its journey towards peace and development. He emphasized that the G20 meetings will pave the way for rapid progress in tourism, industries, and trade in Jammu and Kashmir, and urged Abdullah not to impede the progress of the region.
Regarding the concerns raised by senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad about the delay in holding assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Chugh assured that the polls would take place. He highlighted the BJP-led central government’s successful conduction of DDC (District Development Council), BDC (Block Development Council), and Panchayat elections, which witnessed significant voter turnout. Chugh pointed out that the high voter participation reflected the people’s trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and their faith in democracy.
Chugh reiterated that since the revocation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, substantial efforts have been made to ensure peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the government’s zero tolerance for militancy and highlighted the reduction in militant attacks, incidents, and the number of militants. According to Chugh, Jammu and Kashmir have made significant progress in terms of development.
