JKCA holds first general body meet, conducts membership drive
Futuristic efforts to be unanimous for betterment, growth, overall progress of artistic fraternity: President
Jammu, June 17: Jammu and Kashmir Cine Association, the prime organization advocating a general cause of bringing the whole artistic fraternity under the one umbrella for holistic development of art, culture, and cinema in the JKUT today conducted its first-ever general body meeting.
Nearly 100 people drawn from a variegated field of art, culture, and cinema attended the assembly of the artists gathered at K L Saigal Hall, Abhinav Theatre to voice their respective issues and join hands of JKCA in supplementing to the yeoman cause of promotion, preservation and furthering the flourishing cinema, theater and art in the UT.
While the meet was the first of its kind that was based on exchanging pleasantries among one another and listing themselves in the membership drive held on the occasion, it also focused on various issues and aspects that needed to be introduced and implemented for future course of action to make Jammu and whole UT vibrant on the cultural front.
Though the assemblage, first since the inception of JKCA, was mainly confined to the membership drive, the President of the association Dharminder Kohli on his welcome note shed light on the futuristic efforts to be taken up by the association unanimously for the betterment and growth of the institution for overall progress of artistic fraternity.
“ It takes a united effort and approach for a community to rise to the standards of equality among its contemporaries, and for this purpose this association has been formed as a general mass organization where every individual is welcomed, irrespective of his/her personnel commitment, whatsoever. JKCA stands for everybody and an approach in welcoming JKCA in reciprocation is what we all need,” said Dharminder Kohli .
Atul Vinod Duggal, General Secretary, gave a brief description of the motto envisaged to form the association and was heartily responded with. “We all need to see beyond our personnel bearings to give it a befitting start and a smooth sail,” he said.
On the occasion, certificates and welcome letters were given to the members with names, production houses and other credits at individual levels inscribed which formed the unique concept that was highly appreciated.
Presenting the vote of thanks, Rajesh Khajuria expressed gratitude to the body and the new members who joined the association and said that this effort would go a long way in unity and brotherhood. “Concluding, we take this opportunity to start our voyage to make this endeavor a great success and express our wish that the govt under the able administration of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha should open JK Film Policy instituted by the union territory for the benefit of one and all ,” said Rajesh Khajuria.
High tea was served at the conclusion of the event.
