Tragic Bus Plunge in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir: 36 Lives Lost and 19 Injured in Heart-Wrenching Accident
Doda, 15-11-2023 : In a tragic incident that occurred on Wednesday in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, a bus carrying 55 passengers from Kishtwar to Jammu plunged into a gorge, resulting in the death of 36 individuals and leaving 19 others injured. Union Minister Jitendra Singh confirmed the grim toll on ‘X,’ indicating that six of the injured were in critical condition.
Expressing condolences, Home Minister Amit Shah stated on ‘X’ that the local administration was actively involved in the rescue operation at the accident site. The bus mishap occurred near Trungal in the Assar area on the highway when the vehicle veered off the road and rolled down a steep slope.
Sharing updates from the scene, Minister Singh posted on ‘X’ a message from DC Doda Harvinder Singh, revealing the unfortunate death toll and the critical condition of six injured individuals. He further communicated that he had spoken to the Doda District Commissioner and that efforts were underway to shift the injured to Government Medical College Doda. Additionally, plans for a helicopter service to transport more seriously injured individuals were in progress.
Expressing deep sorrow, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha conveyed his condolences and directed the Divisional Commissioner and District Administration to provide all necessary assistance to those affected. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also expressed grief over the tragedy on ‘X,’ extending condolences to the families of the victims and urging expedited rescue operations.
