Jammu, 14-10-2024: A catastrophic fire broke out on Monday in the remote Marwah area of Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the destruction of over 70 houses. According to official sources cited by the news agency GNS, the blaze originated from a single residence and rapidly spread to engulf nearby homes, creating a significant disaster for the local community.
Due to the inaccessibility of the region, fire and emergency services are struggling to reach the affected area. With no motorable roads available, authorities are attempting to deploy aerial assistance to combat the flames. Eyewitness reports indicate that senior officials have already arrived at the scene to coordinate local efforts to extinguish the fire, which was still raging at the time of this report.
As of now, there have been no confirmed reports of casualties or injuries resulting from this devastating incident. To bolster firefighting efforts, fire tenders from Anantnag are also being dispatched to Marwah to assist their counterparts in controlling the situation.
