Bar Association gives Jammu Bandh call for August 29

Jammu, 22-08-2022: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association has called for a Jammu bandh on August 29 in protest of the government’s lackadaisical response to their demands and problems.

At a press conference conducted in the District Court Complex in Janipur, Bar Association President M. K. Bhardwaj made the announcement in this regard. He stated, “We have been protesting for a long time, but the government has been silent about our requests and grievances. Time and time again, we have made it clear to the government that, should our demands not be met, the lawyers’ fraternity will be left with no choice but to escalate the protest.”

The Bar President responded to a question by saying, “We have backing from practically all the traders’ organizations in addition to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.” “We will reconsider our decision,” he continued, “in case the Government shows some interest in resolving our issues before August 29.”
The construction of a multi-story building to house all judicial work, including registration work, commissions, the CAT, DRT, AFT, and other tribunals, within the Janipur court premises is the principal demand of the bar.
Bhardwaj, who was joined by other officer bearers of the Association, stated that “the other Bar Associations are having the same challenges and they are also afflicted by the same issue of scattered Judicial Courts.”
