Kuwait City, July 11: The Indian Embassy in Kuwait has announced a temporary restriction on its consular, passport and visa related services, limiting assistance to emergency cases only until July 19. The decision, taken due to administrative reasons, will affect routine applications for passports, visas and document attestation during the specified period.
In an official advisory, the Embassy said that only applicants with genuine emergencies and appropriate documentary proof will be able to access consular services until normal operations resume. Indian nationals have been urged to postpone non-essential applications until the temporary measures are withdrawn.
Under the revised arrangement, applications for ordinary passport renewals, regular visa services and document attestation will not be accepted or processed. Embassy officials clarified that these services have been temporarily suspended and will resume once the administrative restrictions are lifted.
Despite the temporary curbs, several essential services will continue to be provided for individuals facing urgent situations. These include the issuance of Tatkal passports, Emergency Certificates, e-Visas, NRI certificates, and short-validity passports for applicants whose Kuwait Civil ID is close to expiry.
The Embassy stressed that applicants seeking these emergency facilities must produce documents establishing the urgency of their request. Only cases meeting the prescribed criteria will be considered for immediate processing.
In a related announcement, the Embassy said that all Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs) across Kuwait will remain closed for accepting applications until further notice. Consequently, applicants will not be able to submit fresh requests through these centres during the temporary suspension.
Indian citizens requiring urgent assistance have been advised to visit the Embassy’s Consular Wing between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. During these hours, officials will examine applications individually and process only those supported by valid emergency documentation.
The Embassy has requested members of the Indian community in Kuwait to avoid unnecessary visits for routine services and instead wait until normal operations are restored. Officials said the temporary arrangement is intended to ensure that limited resources remain available for applicants facing genuine emergencies.
The mission also assured the public that further announcements regarding the resumption of regular services would be issued in due course. Indian nationals have been encouraged to regularly follow the Embassy’s official website and verified social media platforms for updates and fresh advisories.
The temporary restrictions are expected to remain in effect until July 19, after which the Embassy is likely to review the situation and announce the restoration of normal passport, visa and consular services. Until then, applicants have been advised to plan accordingly and seek assistance only in cases of genuine urgency.
