JAMMU,19-09-2023 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has scripted history yet again by giving nod to Women Reservation Bill paving way for the ‘guaranteed’ representation of women in Indian politics, a much sought after move indeed.
This was stated by senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta after starting the development work of lanes and drains here at Ward No 6, Raipur Satwari.
While addressing the gathering, the BJP stalwart said that the long-pending Women’s Reservation Bill, which was approved by the Union Cabinet during the special session of Parliament, envisages 33 per cent quota in Lok Sabha and state Legislative Assemblies, which has long been demanded by several political parties and leaders.
“In the present Lok Sabha, there are only 78 women members who account for less than 15 per cent of the total strength of 543. Besides, several states have less than 10 per cent of women representing the electorate in assemblies”, he said, adding that September 19, 2023 will written in the annals of history with golden ink as no other leader in the country had courage or will power to take this revolutionary step.
Hailing the PM Modi for his courage and visionary outlook, Kavinder anticipated that the Women’s Reservation Bill would be cleared sooner rather than later, adding that only Prime Minister Modi has the focus and intent to get it done. He said that BJP had long been supportive of efforts to clear the Women’s Reservation Bill as the same was evident through the policies of the Modi government which were largely based on women-led development.
The senior BJP leader said that PM Modi has the knack for doing things which no one else had guts or will power to do therefore one can say that this historic move has added another feather in the hat of PM, because already many ground-breaking decisions and moves had been taken by the ‘Vishwaguru’, who has steered the country to new heights of progress and development.
He said that under the ambit of his dynamic leadership already country has been witnessing colossal development especially the J&K which was conventionally marred with development deficit and is leading the country today in many aspects, just because of the prudence and intent of the Prime Minister.
Later, Kavinder met locals and listened to their issues especially the civic matters. He assured to resolve the same on priority by taking up with the authorities concerned.
Those present on the occasion include Vinay Gupta, Narinder Koki, Bharat Bhushan Vice Chairman Cantonment, Amrik Singh, Avtar Singh, Monu Salathia, Harpal Singh Panch, Ashu Panch, Ramesh Kumar, Surjeet Singh, Lok Pal, Des Raj and Jeet Raj Chowdhary.
