Thieves Loot 7 Tolas of Gold, Cash in Broad Daylight Burglary in Jammu

Jammu, February 3: In a daring daylight burglary, thieves struck a house in Sarika Vihar, Jammu, on Saturday and decamped with 7 tolas of gold and ₹40,000 in cash. The incident has raised serious concerns over the rising thefts in residential areas.

The house owner, Deepika Soni, who operates a salon in the locality, stated that the theft occurred while she was away. “I left home around 1 PM, and two hours later, my sister called me, informing me about the burglary,” Soni said.

According to her, the burglars used an LPG cylinder to force open the main door and then employed additional tools to break the lockers inside the almirah, from where they stole the valuables. The thieves also broke open the locker of her tenants, who were not present at the time of the incident. However, the exact amount of gold and cash stolen from the tenants’ belongings is yet to be determined.

Expressing disappointment over the police response, Soni alleged that despite the magnitude of the crime, no Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was sent to examine the crime scene.

Meanwhile, SDPO Domana Mudassir Hussain assured that the matter would be thoroughly investigated. A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Domana, and further inquiries are underway to apprehend the culprits.
