Trump to Receive Israel’s Highest Honour for Gaza Peace Deal After Missing Nobel

Israeli Presidential Medal of Honour to be awarded to US President Trump during Middle East visit, recognising his role in brokering Gaza ceasefire and securing hostage release

Israel, Oct 13 : Just days after missing out on the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, US President Donald Trump will be honoured by Israel for his role in brokering peace in Gaza. Israeli President Isaac Herzog announced that Trump will receive the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honour, the country’s highest civilian award, during his visit to Israel on Monday.

The award recognises Trump’s efforts in securing the release of hostages and helping end the Gaza conflict. “Through his tireless efforts, President Trump has not only helped bring our loved ones home but has also laid the foundations for a new era in the Middle East built on security, cooperation, and genuine hope for a peaceful future,” Herzog’s office said in a statement.

The medal is awarded to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to Israel or humanity. Former US President Barack Obama received the same honour in 2013 for strengthening Israel’s security and bilateral ties.

Ahead of his visit, Trump described the Gaza war as “over” and expressed optimism about the ceasefire holding. He is travelling with a high-level delegation, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and military commander Gen. Dan Caine.

During the trip, Trump will meet families of hostages in Israel and attend a public address at the Knesset. He will then travel to Egypt for a formal peace ceremony in Sharm el-Sheikh, which will mark the signing of the truce, though details of the agreement remain undisclosed.

The Israeli announcement follows Trump’s disappointment at missing the Nobel Peace Prize, which was awarded to Venezuelan democracy activist María Corina Machado. Despite widespread skepticism over his claims of ending seven wars, Trump has remained confident about his peace efforts in the Middle East.

This recognition by Israel underscores Trump’s pivotal role in facilitating the Gaza ceasefire and advancing stability in the region, even as the world debates his chances at global peace awards.
