Udhampur Police Cracks Down on Illegal Spa Centres

UDHAMPUR, Nov 14: In a decisive action against unregulated businesses, the District Police Udhampur, in coordination with a Magistrate, conducted a series of raids and sealed five spa centres in Udhampur town for operating without proper authorization.

The targeted establishments include Blue Lotus Spa Centre at Dhar Road Barrian, Planet Spa Centre near DPS School Rathain, Golden Hotel Spa Centre at Rathain, Planet 2 Spa Centre at Birma Bridge, and Q2 Thai Spa Centre also at Birma Bridge.

Authorities revealed that these centres were functioning without mandatory business registration, health and safety certifications, or other essential licenses required for operation. Despite opportunities to provide documentation, the management of these establishments failed to produce any valid proof of compliance, prompting their immediate closure.

The crackdown comes as part of an intensified effort to regulate businesses and ensure public safety. According to officials, the lack of proper licensing not only violates the law but also raises concerns regarding the quality of services and the safety of customers.

A preliminary enquiry has been launched by the police to investigate potential legal violations and examine whether any broader network of irregularities exists. Further action will depend on the findings of this investigation.
